We’re already in 2022 and too many people still feel stuck in 2019. But for those working in the service industry, time never stopped. The ups and downs of the pandemic has made it hard for local owners to stay afloat in this unsure time. Some bakeries and coffee shops have turned to GoFundMe to help their staff. Too many locally owned Philadelphia’s shops, restaurants, and bars have shut down.

The Grill at Smucker’s in Reading Terminal Market
After 12 years of business, Moses Smucker has closed his business in Reading Terminal Market after the announcement of the new citywide mandate.
Porta in Center City
With other locations remaining open, Porta has unfortunately closed down their Center City Philadelphia location.
Day by Day in Rittenhouse Square
Since 1981, Day by Day in Rittenhouse Square has provided upscale breakfast and lunch foods, as well as catering, and will be closing their doors definitely.
Warmdaddy’s in Pennsport
Now closed, Warmdaddy’s on Columbus Boulevard opened in 1995 and offered soul food and a music venue for Pennsport neighbors.
The Bards in Center City
The Bards, an Irish Pub in Center City known for late night beers permanently closed for the health and safety of their employees.
Mama’s Vegetarian in Center City
A much loved kosher, vegetarian, Mediterranean casual restaurant in Center City, Mama’s is now closed.
Cheu Noodle Bar Washington Square West
Known throughout the city for their beloved noodle bowls and Asian-fusion cuisine, Cheu Noodle Bar has officially close their doors for good.
Dmitri’s in Northern Liberties
Dmitri’s has officially shut down after being a Northern Liberties neighborhood staple for Greek and Seafood.
Boot & Saddle
After opening the 1950s as a country western bar and growing into a local Philly favorite live-music venue, Boot & Saddle has unfortunately closed permanently.
Le Bus Rittenhouse
