About the Author

George M. Christofely, CPA (lic. inactive) is a 1978 accounting graduate of Saint John’s University in New York. George went on to earn his Certified Public Accountant licenses in New York and New Jersey including a 25-year fellowship in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

 

George’s background includes positions with Price Waterhouse and Fortune 500 companies: Xerox Financial Services, The Hertz Corporation, and Prudential Real Estate. He was a founding partner of the regional New Jersey CPA firm of Ruane, Christofely & Associates. George began serving as Qualified Intermediary for I.R.C. 1031 Like-Kind Exchanges approximately 20 years ago after selling his CPA firm. Soon after, he became Vice President and General Manager of Jersey Realty Exchange Corporation, a 1031 subsidiary of The Title Company of Jersey.

 

George’s current position as Founder & President of 1031 Exchange Specialists, Inc. in Ocean City, NJ and Naples, Florida has enabled him to publish numerous articles and conduct seminars on I.R.C. 1031 Like-Kind Exchanges. George’s social network blog is followed by more than 20,000 individuals. Throughout his 1031 career, George has provided exchange documentation and guidance to taxpayers and their advisers, facilitating more than 8,000 exchanges throughout the United States, District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
